  • Educational and entertaining concert «The Virtuoso battle»

It is known that in his youth Vladimir Spivakov seriously practiced boxing, and today the State Chamber Orchestra «Moscow Virtuosi» continues the Maestro’s cause and presents, perhaps, its most unusual and daring project – an educational-and-entertaining concert «The Virtuoso battle»!

Have you ever seen a boxing ring on a concert hall stage? Or, perhaps, classical musicians at a concert without tuxedos? Have you ever thought that classical music and boxing might have much in common? Or that practicing the violin can lead to injury (not only emotional)? We are sure you have not! Then it is time to witness something astonishing!

We invite you to enjoy a unique theatrical program that opens new facets of perceiving and understanding the classical repertoire. After all, the classics are a true ring of emotions, a battle of meanings and ideas, which is won by the one who feels it with the heart. You will see how the virtuosity of instrumental playing interacts with the energy of sport, revealing previously unseen sides of the creative process. Just imagine: the musicians find themselves in the ring, competing not in strength, but in mastery, and their performance is judged not by a referee, but by the audience, who feel the emotional heat of every moment. Feel like musical referees and see for yourselves that art is capable of uniting the most diverse spheres of human life, giving rise to unusual combinations and revealing a new depth of life’s perception.

Boxing legend Muhammad Ali said that classical music helps him feel inner strength before stepping into the ring, and another famous heavyweight, Evander Holyfield, claimed that it gives a sense of calm and confidence, allowing one to prepare mentally for the bout.

The musicians of one of the world’s finest chamber orchestras will bring to the bout great music from different weight categories of genres and eras – from Bach and Vivaldi to Morricone and Piazzolla*. And only you will decide who will be the winner this evening!

P.S. In our «The Virtuoso battle» anything is possible… except a win by knockout!

Duration of the bout: 10 rounds of 3 minutes (1 hour 20 minutes without intermission)
The program is performed without a conductor
