It is a well-known fact that in his youth, Vladimir Spivakov was a serious boxer. Today, the «Moscow Virtuosi» State Chamber Orchestra continues the Maestro’s legacy by presenting perhaps its most unusual and daring project yet—the educational and entertaining concert «Virtuoso Duel»!

Have you ever seen a boxing ring on a concert hall stage? Or academic musicians performing without their tuxedos? Have you ever considered that classical music and boxing might have a lot in common? Or that practicing the violin could lead to injury (and not just emotional ones)? We are certain you haven’t! This means it’s time to witness something truly astonishing.

We invite you to enjoy a unique theatrical program that reveals new dimensions of the classical repertoire. After all, the classics are a true ring of emotions—a battle of meanings and ideas won by those who feel them with their hearts. You will see how instrumental virtuosity interacts with the energy of sport, uncovering previously unseen sides of the creative process. Imagine this: musicians enter the ring to compete not in strength, but in mastery, where their performance is judged not by a referee, but by an audience feeling the emotional intensity of every moment. Become a «musical referee» and see for yourself how art can unite the most diverse spheres of life, creating extraordinary combinations and opening new depths of perception.

Boxing legend Muhammad Ali once said that classical music helped him find inner strength before entering the ring, while another famous heavyweight, Evander Holyfield, claimed it gave him a sense of peace and confidence, allowing him to prepare mentally for the fight.

Musicians from one of the world’s finest chamber orchestras will bring great music from various «weight classes», genres, and eras to the duel—from Bach and Mozart to Tchaikovsky and Piazzolla*. And it is up to you to decide who will emerge as the winner this evening!

P.S. In our «Virtuoso Duel», anything is possible… except a victory by knockout!

Match Duration: 1 hour 20 minutes without intermission. The program is performed without a conductor.
