Today is Michel Legran’s anniversary – he is turning 80.
To mark this date, or, as he himself says, his fourth twentieth birthday, the maestro began an anniversary tour of Russia together with his museum Catherine Michel (harp), the double bassist Pierre Boussage, the drummer François Lezo and his longstanding partners on stage – the Moscow Virtuosi Orchestra.
Spectators in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tyumen, Ekaterinburg, Kazan, Samara and Togliatti were able to hear their favourite tunes performed by their creator. The audience of the two capitals also got acquainted with the famous Canadian singer Mario Pelsha and enjoyed jazz improvisations by Igor Butman.
In Moscow, Michel Legrand, as well as the audience, was in for a surprise: an old friend of the maestro Vladimir Spivakov came to congratulate the maestro on his upcoming anniversary, who together with the Moscow Virtuosi performed a fragment of Jules Massenet’s opera Tais and Astor Piazzolla’s opera Libertango.
