The new hall of the House of Music was opened with a concert of «Moscow Virtuosi» under Spivakov’s direction
The new hall has a transformable stage space, simulated acoustics, video projection and sound recording equipment of the latest generation.
The new hall of the Moscow International Music House (MMDM) was inaugurated on Monday night. The State Chamber Orchestra «Moscow Virtuosi» and its Artistic Director, President of the Moscow International Music House Vladimir Spivakov addressed the first guests of the new hall with a program that included works by Mozart, Rossini and Donizetti.
On the premiere evening, Bolshoi Theatre soloist Anna Aglatova (soprano) took the stage with the orchestra and maestro Spivakov. There was an overture to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s opera Le nozze di Figaro, an overture to Gioacchino Rossini’s opera The Barber of Seville, a waltz by Musetta from Giacomo Puccini’s opera La Boheme and other works.
«Everything here is done with the latest technology. Plus it’s also a recording studio, where you can record discs, programmes and invite soloists – both ours and abroad. This hall is indeed a pearl. I am very happy that it happened. I think it is a colossal gift to musicians, a gift to all those who come to the House of Music, a gift to Moscow», Spivakov told reporters before the concert.

The room has become the main rehearsal space for resident orchestras of the Moscow Chamber Orchestra «Moscow Virtuosi» and the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia. The new hall can accommodate 286 spectators.
Spivakov added that he also made a gift for his part. There is an art space in the hall, for the creation of which the maestro has donated works by contemporary artists and sculptors from his personal collection. Now spectators can see paintings by Evgeny Rastorguev, Yury Vasiliev, Boris Beach, Oksana Mas, Igor Novikov, sculptures by Sergei Sergeyev in the lobby, and in the inner room of the hall there are paintings by Alexei Mochalov, Alexander Stotsky, Olga Kroitor and Alexander Vorokhob.

The MDM was opened in 2002 and is one of the largest philharmonic complexes in Russia and worldwide. Vladimir Spivakov, an outstanding violinist and conductor, People’s Artist of the USSR and holder of the honorary title «UNESCO Artist for Peace», was one of the initiators of the creation of the multifunctional cultural centre in the capital.
