The first concert of the «Moscow Virtuosos» subscription took place in KZH
The first concert of the Moscow Virtuosi subscription was held at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall. Israeli violinist Vadim Gluzman not only performed as a soloist, but also as a conductor.
For all forty years «Moscow Virtuosos» has been gathering full halls. Several generations have grown up on their music. Violinist Vadim Gluzman did not miss their concerts while studying in Riga. This evening he plays with Bach’s and Beethoven’s Virtuosi.
«This orchestra is unique in that it reflects Spivakov’s musician. It is incredibly expensive for me, and the fact that I have the opportunity to communicate with these musicians is the light in the window. I always look forward to it», said Glusman.
Gluzman came to Moscow with a Stradivarius violin. It is over three hundred years old. Its history is connected with Russia.
«The violin lived in St. Petersburg. She went to work at the St. Petersburg Conservatory. For many decades it belonged to Leopold Auer, she wrote the Tchaikovsky Concerto. She was also rejected; Glazunov’s concert was written for her», he added.
This is not the first time that Gluzman is performing the solo with Virtuosi. That evening he also performed the role of conductor, although he does not consider himself a conductor. He chose the programme himself. His favourites include the first violin concerto with the Bach Orchestra and Beethoven’s eleventh Quartet in Mahler’s transcription. They call it the «Serious».
This was Beethoven’s first work after his student Teresa Malfatti refused to marry him. Almost ninety years later, Gustav Mahler arranged the quartet. After the Vienna premiere, Mahler’s version was not performed until 1986.
«Vadim chose this work, even specially ordered notes from Austria to perform it here», explained Nikita Lebedev.
The musician’s schedule is signed for years to come. It also includes concerts with the «Moscow Virtuosi».
