Russian «Tuscany» in La Mutte
As part of the festival «Nights at La Mutte Castle» on Friday night, the audience, again quite large and including a beautiful and noisy Russian colony, attended a great concert. Regardless of the virtuosity of the two violinists, Vladimir Spivakov and Daniel Lozakovich, the programme and structure of this evening will remain a model for events of this kind: three parts, differing in programme and role of the participants, focus first on the two violins, then on Lozakovich and finally on the Moscow orchestra (Moscow Virtuosi – editor’s note) and Spivakov.
The first number is a Bach Concerto for two violins and an orchestra. It is an exciting and exciting start; it seems that Spivakov took Lozakovich to the concert like a grandson. For all its clarity and purity, the two maestros give this work a truly ingenious scale.
This is followed by a violin concerto designed to show the incredible talent of 18-year-old Daniel Lozakovich. Spivakov postponed the violin and conducts this manoeuvre. Brilliantly, inspiringly, airily. Evening softness enhances this bliss. Lozakovich is incredibly mobile and sensitive. Time is running out. The pupil and the teacher rush into their arms. Lozakovich gives an unexpected solo – something supernatural.
Finally, the orchestra one performs the Serenade for Tchaikovsky’s Strings. Spivakov conducts with incredible subtlety. Nothing superfluous, restrained and yet elegant, which does not exclude authority. Yes, the «director» of this evening deserves all sorts of praise, as do brilliant musicians.
