«Seasons» – a concert by the Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra was held at the House of Music. The new project was called a «mystery» by its participants themselves.

Soloist of the Moscow Virtuosi chamber orchestra Sergei Bezrodny performed Max Richter’s The Seasons for the first time. This work appeared in 2012, when the recording of the «Seasons» in the author’s interpretation of the British composer topped the rating of classical music. The post-minimalist and neoclassicist Max Richter reinterpreted the famous Antonio Vivaldi cycle.

«He left Vivaldi’s structure: there are 4 concerts for violin and orchestra, in three parts each concert. But, you know, I would compare this to a labyrinth along a familiar path. Behind the corner there is a completely different situation, a completely different landscape», said Sergei Bezrodny, soloist of the orchestra «Moscow Virtuosi», Honoured Artist of Russia.

Notebooks were sent from London. One of the conditions – only one performance – in Moscow, in the House of Music. It was conceived a year ago and should have ended last season. But because of the pandemic, the musicians did not go on stage for six months. This concert is the first in the new season.

«A concert mystery, you could say, a concert play, a concert with a single idea, which will be performed continuously. A number of works, follow one after another and reach the climax», – declared the concertmaster of an orchestra «Moscow Virtuosi», the honoured artist of Russia Alexey Lundin.

The programme combines music from the Baroque period with works from the 20th century. The result was a philosophical performance with the voice of Maestro Vladimir Spivakov. But on stage, the musicians perform without a conductor. There is a harpsichord on the stage. Next to the instrument is a cane, which has been used for several centuries to fight back tact.

It’s taller than a human being, so that everyone can see, of course.
