    25 December 2013

The first department was dedicated to the music of W.A. Mozart. It opened with a virtuoso F Major Divertissement. Then, to perform the 23rd Piano Concerto, the orchestra was joined by South Korean soloist HJ Lim, who had already gained popularity in the West but had come to Moscow for the first time.

Light and graceful music with flexible and expressive intonations was perceived by the public with a special, incomparable feeling of the bright Christmas holiday.

In the second section, two soloists came on stage to perform A. Vivaldi’s cantata «‎Gloria» together with the orchestra – Kristina Mkhitaryan (soprano) and Yulia Mazurova (mezzo-soprano), as well as the Academic Bolshoi Choir «‎Masters of Choral Singing» (artistic director – Lev Kontorovich).

The real gift and surprise for the audience was an encore: Vladimir Spivakov went on stage with a violin in his hands and performed with the accompaniment of the orchestra «‎Prayer» by Tatyana. Albinoni.

This music was addressed to the hearts of the audience, calling for a spiritual confession before God, on the night before Christmas, and before those around them – loved ones, relatives and friends who fill life with meaning and happiness.

The concert was supported by the official partner of the Russian Railways Orchestra. The orchestra would also like to thank its partners Henderson-Russia and European Medical Center. (GEMC), Volvo Car Corporation.
