In Japan, people who are in harmony with each other – for example, musicians playing duets – are called ‘a-un-no kokyu’, which means ‘perfection’, ‘refined harmony’. It is this exquisite harmony that the newly formed duo – Vladimir Spivakov and Vadim Repin – presented to the audience at the Trans-Siberian Art Festival. Two renowned musicians performed together for the first time.

Piccolo trumpet and weathervane – these two wind instruments with absolutely different sounds have so far not performed solo on stage with the orchestra. But German composer Einjott Schneider decided to experiment by writing a work entitled «Dancing Dreamers». It is based on dreams and images from the work of Salvador Dali.

The world premiere sounds at the Trans-Siberian Art Festival. Classical music stars are invited to it by the organizer, Vadim Repin, and the world-famous violinist himself. In Novosibirsk, he became famous as a schoolboy.

The Stradivarius violin from the state collection was entrusted to the talented violinist at the age of 11. With Stradivarius Stradivarius violin, Repin is still on the stage of the Art Festival every day.

«From Siberia we are building musical, friendly and strong bridges in all directions, such as the Trans-Siberian Railway itself», he said.

The three-week programme of the festival began with the American music of Copland and Gershwin, followed by Vivaldi’s violin, Dvořák’s cello concerto with orchestra, organ and piano.

Music has no nationality and its language is clear to everyone. This year’s Trans-Siberian Art Festival was traditionally attended by soloists from different countries: Germany, Belgium, Italy, Spain, USA and France. The famous Russian chamber orchestra ‘Moscow Virtuosi’ will also perform.

Vladimir Spivakov has also prepared a premiere for Siberian spectators. For the first time they performed a Bach Concerto for two violins with the orchestra with Vadim Repin.

«There is a lot of aggression, imperfection and anti-harmony in the world now, but there is no such thing as music», believes Vladimir Spivakov.

At Spivakov’s request, young talents watched the concert right from the stage. «Moscow Virtuosi» does not end the list of guests at the festival. The outstanding conductor Vladimir Fedoseev has already flown to Novosibirsk. The maestro is performing 85 this year, but he is in excellent shape and ready to go on stage to conduct the Novosibirsk Symphony Orchestra.
