World-renowned conductor Vladimir Spivakov recommends listening to Mozart’s music and Italian opera to prevent coronavirus and other infectious diseases.

«It is possible to listen to Mozart. If Mozart helps cows, he will definitely help people. The Italians are also good, opera Italians», said Vladimir Spivakov at a press conference in Minsk, answering a question from the Interfax-West agency as to whether classical music can increase human immunity and help prevent coronavirus.

According to the maestro, Wagner’s music is not suitable for this purpose. «Certainly not Wagner. I recently had to refuse the offer to conduct Wagner. I don’t feel it is possible to get close to Wagner’s genius», continued Spivakov.

In his opinion, the physical impact on the human body is due to the power of sound vibration.

«Sound is a physical phenomenon. The clearer the tone, the greater the overtone – it is possible to send a sound further», explained the maestro.

Spivakov will be performing in Belarus over the next few days at a concert as part of his name festival.

«It’s great to have this tradition. Gustav Mahler once said that tradition is not ashes, it is fire. No coronavirus can withstand such fire. They do not understand what to treat. And you have to treat it with art», added the maestro.

On March 3-6, the VI International Festival «Vladimir Spivakov invites» will take place in Belarus.

The Spivakov Festival has been held in Belarus since 2010, the festival is held once every two years at the leading venues of the Belarusian capital, the main concerts are traditionally held at the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus.
