The House of Music in the capital is almost 18 years old, and all these years all the musicians have gathered in one rehearsal room. A couple of years ago, Vladimir Spivakov, the President of the House of Music, found a way out. When he found a forgotten structure on the territory of the House of Music, he decided to reconstruct it so that he could rehearse concerts there, and not from time to time, but regularly. It was said – done. The first regular concert of the new hall of the House of Music featured singer Anna Aglatova and «Virtuosi of Moscow» led by Vladimir Theodorovich.

Vladimir Spivakov together with the Moscow Virtuosi Orchestra rehearses in the new hall of the House of Music, which has recently opened to the public. Modern space is able to transform itself to any programme. The stage lighting adds colour, and the simulated acoustics give a rich sound.

«I am very happy. Well, I think it’s a huge gift for musicians. A gift to everyone who comes to the music house. A gift for Moscow», says Vladimir Spivakov.

This used to be a household space. But a couple of years ago it was decided to give the venue for special chamber events, which did not prevent the rehearsal room for the orchestra.

Vladimir Spivakov: «Musicians became less tired. This is very important. And the big orchestra rehearses here, and there are simply high ceilings. You can breathe calmly».

The new stage provides an opportunity for concerts to be broadcast on the Internet.

«Everything is done here with the latest technology. Plus there will be a recording studio where you will be able to record discs, programmes and invite soloists, both ours and abroad», the conductor assures.

The new hall is designed for 286 spectators. The space is multifunctional – both chamber and symphony groups can perform here, and the hall is also ideal for film screenings and theatre productions.

«Ksenia Rappoport came to see this hall. She said: «So… maybe I will think of something here. So I think that this hall will function not only as a rehearsal room, but also as a hall», said Vladimir Spivakov.

The maestro himself gave the new hall his collection of contemporary art All paintings and sculptures were selected to his taste and he wanted to create a territory of art similar to today’s. Spivakov’s personal story is connected with each exhibit, and he tells them with excitement.

Spivakov’s special pride is Alfred Schnittke’s recreated art room. The maestro stresses that there is not a single random thing here – antique furniture from the early 20th century, the composer’s personal belongings and his famous photo portrait by Viktor Brell. Vladimir Theodorovich once chose music and the violin, but he is still interested in painting. The main «virtuoso of Moscow» is convinced that real creativity has no limits.

«One art nourishes another. Art helps us to be human, art is what creates civilisation», believes the maestro.

The new, fourth hall of the temple of music promises to be interesting, and its life will be full of performances by famous artists, theatre performances and creative meetings.
