Petr Nikiforov
Concertmaster of the second violins
Petr Nikiforov was born in Moscow and started learning to play the violin at the age of 5. In 1989 he was admitted to the Gnessin ISSMS in the class of D.V.Frolovich. In 1997 Petr was admitted to the Gnessin Chamber Orchestra, with which he toured in Russia and abroad.
After finishing school in 2000, Petr entered the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Concert Hall in the class of Professor S.I.Kravchenko. As part of his studies at the Conservatory, he was a concert master of the Moscow Conservatory Symphony Orchestra.
Simultaneously with his studies Petr actively performs as a soloist and concertmaster of the Hermitage Soloists’ Ensemble under the baton of Alexei Utkin.
Over the years he has collaborated with such world stars as Elena Obraztsova, Dmitry Hvorostovsky, David Daniels, Nikolai Petrov, Mikhail Milman, Alexander Rudin and others. He has recorded a number of chamber works on CDs.
Since 2008. Petr Nikiforov is an artist with the State Chamber Orchestra «Moscow Virtuosi».
