    Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation

    Evgeny Shulkov was born in Saratov. He started playing the violin at the age of 6. After graduating from high school (class of teacher A.Z. Serkov) he studied in Saratov music school (class of teacher L.A. Sokolova). In 1992 he entered the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory in the class of Professor ML Yashvili. Under her own leadership, from 1997 to 1999, he underwent an internship as an assistant.

    From 1993 to 1999, he worked in the Tchaikovsky Orchestra. Since 1997 he has been working in the Gnesins Orchestra under the direction of A.P. Podgorny, as a concert master of the orchestra.

    Since 1999, he has been an artist with the State Chamber Orchestra «‎Moscow Virtuosi». From 2007 to 2021 he was the concertmaster of the second violins, and continued to perform as a soloist. His repertoire includes concerts, sonatas, violin pieces, as well as chamber works by composers from different countries, eras and styles. He has repeatedly performed at prestigious concert venues in cities across Russia, the CIS and abroad.

    Awards

    1990 Laureate of the First All-Russian Korsakov Competition (Tver).

    2001 – Diploma holder of the J. Brahms International Competition (Austria).

    2010 – honorary title «‎Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation».

    2002 – disc of works by American composer John Mitchell as part of the Sheremetev Ensemble.

    2015 – R. Schumann and J. Brahms piano quartets with the Sheremetev Ensemble
